thanks for that CH, my problem is i cant get to the extension.ini as when i go application data/mozilla/extensions a explorer.exe pop up tell me i have a problem and shuts down! i am now on an old profile and i have toolbar! so i dont know whats going on apart from it all started yesterday when i couldnt load thunderbird! (i still cant!)

That's happened to me a few times. To get around it, I right click and save the .xpi to the desktop. Then I drag and drop it onto an open Firefox window.
