How come if you thumb down a brand new site, you get an error page?
You have to give it a thumbs up, enter your review then go back and thumb it down.
Anybody else had this problem?

Thumb it in as I like then after it goes through change it to thumbs down>>> It means it isn't in the registry yet. Or a new Stumble if you will.

The idea is that if you don't want to share it, don't submit it to the database. I'd like to be able to add sites with a negative review, but it's been this way for a while. I thought there was a related bug ticket open but I don't see it. Here it is.

Okay I get it.
Thanks for the clarification guys.

Here's my way of doing it: If I thumb down a page which has not been submitted before to the database, I go back to it, tag it using the SU toolbar, then I click on the thumb down.

5: This still misses the point somewhat: if you submit a site to the databases, and your rating is a *thumbs down*, then it is not likely to get far at all in terms of being submitted to other people for stumbling.

Think about it: 100% of the people who have seen it (you, just you) have said that they don't like it. So, basically, you've submitted a site to StumbleUpon that is probably not going to get stumbled by anyone.

6: which could be a potential vulnerability of the system. I mean what's to prevent abuse and having campaigns or deliberate attempts keep pages off of SU?

Simply stating the facts as I know them.

Feel free to speculate on the downsides of system behaviour (or a suggested improvement) in Features, perhaps, or StumbleUpon groups.

7: all it would take is a couple of thumbs up to reverse those attempts.

6: What if we want to warn people about a site? I think we should be able to negatively review a site that isn't in the database. Not all sites are discovered by people stumbling. Lots of times people find it on their own then check the SU reviews. If I have something bad to say about it, I should be able to do so.
